THERAPY

Wild Minds Allied Health provides evidence-based psychological therapy for children, adolescents and adults. Therapy may support emotional regulation, anxiety and mood difficulties, stress, identity and self-understanding, relationships, behaviour, adjustment to life transitions, and overall wellbeing. Sessions are structured yet flexible, and are guided by agreed goals that reflect the person’s needs, strengths and context.

Where appropriate, therapy may include collaboration with parents, carers, schools or other professionals to support skill development and generalisation across everyday environments.

Our clinicians draw on a range of evidence-based and developmentally informed approaches to ensure support is responsive, ethical and tailored to each individual. Interventions are selected based on the person’s needs, goals, developmental stage and context, and are delivered within a neuro-affirming and trauma-informed framework.

Our training and clinical experience include:

  • DIR® Floortime – supporting social, emotional and relational development through attuned, play-based and relationship-focused interactions, particularly for children and young people.

  • EMDR-informed practice – supporting the processing of distressing experiences and trauma-related difficulties, where clinically appropriate and within scope of training.

  • PEERS®-informed social skills training – supporting adolescents and young adults to build evidence-based social communication, relationship and peer interaction skills within structured individual and group formats.

  • Peer Group Support approaches – facilitating structured group programs that support social connection, emotional regulation and skill development within a supported peer environment.

  • Circle of Security®-informed practice – strengthening attachment, caregiver insight and relational safety to support emotional development and regulation.

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), including neuro-affirming CBT – supporting understanding of thoughts, emotions and behaviours in ways that respect neurodiversity and individual differences.

  • Acceptance and Compassion-based therapies – supporting individuals to develop psychological flexibility, self-compassion and values-based action, particularly in the context of distress, identity and emotional regulation.

  • Schema Therapy-informed approaches – supporting deeper patterns related to identity, relationships and emotional needs, particularly for adolescents and adults.

  • Polyvagal-informed practice – supporting regulation, safety and connection through an understanding of the nervous system and stress responses.

These approaches are integrated thoughtfully rather than applied in isolation, ensuring therapy remains flexible, person-centred and grounded in current psychological evidence.

ASSESSMENT

Wild Minds Allied Health provides comprehensive psychological assessments for children, adolescents and adults across the lifespan. Assessments are conducted to support understanding, diagnosis and informed decision-making, and may assist with intervention planning, education or workplace supports, and access to appropriate services or funding.

Our assessment process is evidence-based and individualised, drawing on multiple sources of information. This may include standardised assessment tools, clinical interviews, observation, and information from relevant informants and settings where appropriate. Findings are integrated using professional clinical judgement, with consideration of developmental stage, strengths, context and lived experience.

Assessment outcomes are shared through a feedback session and a written report that provides clear, practical and respectful recommendations to support wellbeing, participation and long-term outcomes across home, education, work and community environments.

Group Therapy

Wild Minds Allied Health offers evidence-based group therapy programs for children, adolescents and young adults, delivered in line with NDIS Capacity Building supports. Groups are designed to support the development of emotional regulation, social connection, communication skills, self-understanding and wellbeing within a safe, structured and supportive environment. Our group programs are neuro-affirming and trauma-informed, and are facilitated by qualified clinicians who ensure activities are developmentally appropriate, goal-focused and responsive to individual needs.

Groups provide opportunities for participants to practise skills with peers, build confidence, and strengthen participation across home, school, work and community settings.Group therapy programs will be offered throughout 2026, with intakes running across the year. Programs may be accessed by NDIS participants with relevant plan funding, as well as through other funding pathways where appropriate. Group goals, outcomes and progress are clearly documented to ensure alignment with individual plans and NDIS requirements.

NDIS Behaviour Support

Wild Minds Allied Health provides NDIS Behaviour Support that is person-centred, evidence-based and grounded in a Positive Behaviour Support framework. We work with children, adolescents and adults to understand the meaning and purpose of behaviours of concern, recognising behaviour as a form of communication shaped by individual needs, environment and experience.

Behaviour Support focuses on improving quality of life, safety and participation across everyday settings such as home, school, work and the community. Supports are developed collaboratively with the participant, their family or carers, and relevant professionals, and are tailored to individual goals, strengths and circumstances.

Where required, Behaviour Support Plans are developed in line with NDIS Commission requirements and prioritise the reduction and elimination of restrictive practices. All plans are overseen with appropriate clinical governance, ongoing monitoring and review, ensuring ethical practice, accountability and alignment with the NDIS Practice Standards.
